Description

Re-Submitting these with a snazzy new layout.
Because I write too damn much for my own good, from now on I'll only write about name derivation and how the designs were conceptualized. ^^;

Ability: Sleeping Gas
In Battle:When a Pokémon with Sleeping Gas is hit by a move that makes contact, there is a 20% chance that the attacking foe will fall asleep.
Outside of Battle:Pokemon encountered in the wild will have a 10% chance of having the Sleep status. This only applies when the pokemon with Sleeping Gas ability is the first pokemon in the trainer's party.

Gemna jem-nuh
Name Derivation
The name is a portmanteau of the words Gem and Nirvana (the state of being free from suffering en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nirvana). Relief from suffering is a main aspect of Gemna and its evolved form, Gemvana.

Design notes
Gemna was originally alot more like a dreamcatcher, an aspect thats left to Gemvana. Gemna now has a canister-or-bottle-like body. The idea comes from the well known adage of keeping negative emotions bottled up inside being inadvisable. For Gemna, this idea is slightly reversed, in the sense that Gemna is not keeping anything with negative connotations inside its body. In fact, it contains a gas that acts as Gemna's life support. This gas has a sedative effect on other pokemon, and is meant to act as Gemna's defense mechanism if under direct physical attacks. Once attacked physically, some gas will *leak out of the lid of Gemna and may induce sleepiness in the attacker. Either way, its good that Gemna doesn't keep whatever bottled in completely, yes? xP

The other aspects of its design are to enhance its cuteness factor (eyes and pacifier mouth thingy - it even looks a bit like a little boy with a hat if your imaginations wide enough) and to smooth its transition to Gemvana (The gem crystals, the body pattern).

Gemvana jem-VAH-nah
Name Derivation
The name is a portmanteau of the words Gem and Nirvana (the state of being free from suffering en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nirvana). Relief from suffering is a main aspect of Gemna and its evolved form, Gemvana.

Design notes
Gemvana was one of my earlier creations, although back then it was a bunch of floating gems forming a human-like shape. It looked pretty horrendous ahaha! After several redesigns it ends up being a dreamcatcher. I wanted a 'lifeless' kinda vibe for it, and that is why I opted for a mostly material-look and just hinting at it having a face. The 'eyes' on the cloth takes inspiration from the Dark type icon found in the trading card series.

*Don't worry about Gemna dying from this mechanism, it only needs to be half-full of gas before its resources even start to get strained. And no gas will leak out once it drops to this half-way point anyway, as at this point the pokemon will simply faint.
